This search included a focus on features like threads, end-to-end encryption (E2EE), messaging functionality, mobile and desktop applications, and more. We compare Matrix, Element, TeamSpeak, Rocket Chat, Mattermost, Zulip, Stoat, and Fluxer to the best of our abilities, but note that we don't consider ourselves experts in any of these applications, and so this is based on our experience of 3 weeks of testing the Discord alternatives.
