Researchers at Princeton just made superconducting qubits with an average coherence time of over 1ms, the longest average reported coherence times in superconducting qubits by over a factor of 2, and was achieved with a simple material change. While other qubit platforms, like neutral atoms and spin qubits show longer coherence times on the order of seconds or longer, they suffer from other problems such as long gate times and low multi-qubit coupling respectively. This is why superconducting qubits have remained a frontrunner. Do you think this is the best qubit ever?
