Ants have pets!

In one of nature’s weirder alliances, ants and aphids have formed a mutually beneficial relationship called "mutualistic symbiosis". Ants protect aphids from predators, while aphids pay their security guards in sugar. How? By excreting a wet, sugary substance that scientists call "honeydew" but it's actually just aphid diarrhea. Aphids drink plant blood and they can't digest all the sugar in it, so it comes out as watery poo. Ants lap it up like syrup, turning the aphids into living vending machines. It’s a bit gross, yes, but remarkably effective.
