An Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo has reached over 500 infections with 131 deaths, including one death in Uganda. The Bondembuyo species of Ebola, which has no approved vaccines or medicines, has prompted the United States to close borders to non-citizens from the affected region. The World Health Organisation is convening meetings as health experts recommend screening measures for travellers from the Ituri region, which has porous borders with Uganda and South Sudan.
