Andy Burnham took a gamble with the constituents of Makerfield when he told them that a vote for him would be a "vote to change Labour". The Greater Manchester mayor promised to give voters “the party back they used to know”. Reform have also faced questions about their candidates' alleged sexist and homophobic social media activity.
