New figures show that net migration to the UK dropped to an estimated 171,000 last year, down by 48% on the previous 12 months. But Madeleine Sumption from the Migration Observatory tells Channel 4 News that it’s "difficult to say whether that will actually benefit the government politically" as long as the issue of "small boats and high asylum claims remains high on the agenda".
