Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said it has foiled what it described as a planned terrorist attack at a crowded venue in the Belgorod border region, near Ukraine. The agency said its bomb disposal units used a remote-controlled robot to detect and neutralise an improvised explosive device, which was later detonated safely. According to the FSB, the operation followed the identification of a woman allegedly recruited through cyber deception involving fake security and financial officials, who was instructed to plant a GPS tracker as part of a wider scheme. The woman, speaking in a recorded statement, described being contacted through fraudulent messages and pressured into transferring money before being directed to assist in suspicious activities.
