Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated a major artillery shell manufacturing facility at the MIDC industrial estate near Shirdi in Maharashtra’s Ahilyanagar district, marking a key milestone in India’s indigenous defence production push. Developed with an investment of nearly ₹1,000 crore, the private-sector complex is expected to manufacture up to five lakh 155 mm artillery shells annually using fully indigenous technology and materials.
