As part of National Volunteer Week, Football Australia CEO Martin Kugeler visited Maroubra United FC to meet the volunteers, families, coaches and players helping drive Australia’s biggest participation sport. With more than 1,600 players across boys, girls and seniors football, Maroubra United reflects the strength, diversity and community spirit of grassroots football in Australia. During the visit, Martin spent time with club volunteers and officials, watched junior training sessions, and heard firsthand about the opportunities and challenges facing local football clubs. From Coles MiniRoos through to senior football, clubs like Maroubra United play a vital role in bringing communities together and inspiring the next generation of CommBank Socceroos and CommBank Matildas — including former Maroubra junior Alex Robertson. Football Australia thanks the thousands of volunteers across the country whose hard work keeps grassroots football running every week. #FootballAustralia #Gras
