A gunman who reportedly believed he was Jesus Christ was shot dead by Secret Service agents after opening fire outside the White House on Saturday evening. Nasire Best, 21, had a history of mental health issues and was known to authorities, according to Fox News. A Secret Service spokesman confirmed the suspect had opened fire at about 6pm local time (11pm BST), before being shot by agents. He had pointed the gun at a window of a security checkpoint on the outskirts of the White House complex. Best was taken to hospital, where he later died. A bystander was also hit in the exchange and remains in a serious condition, according to CBS News. No one else was injured.
