A Cathay Pacific flight from Brisbane to Hong Kong experienced severe turbulence that caused the aircraft to plunge mid-flight, throwing passengers, crew and food service items into the cabin ceiling. Ten people were hospitalised, including six crew members and four passengers, with injuries occurring during meal service when many staff were moving about the cabin. The pilot later informed passengers the turbulence was caused by a weather incident that wasn't visible on radar due to darkness.
