We often think empathy is simply feeling sorry for someone but it’s much deeper than that. Through a personal story and powerful reflections, this talk explores what it truly means to sit with people in their pain, listen without judgment, and connect through shared humanity. Sometimes, the greatest act of kindness is simply being there. David is a Year 7 student with a deep passion for both public speaking and music. An avid violinist, David finds joy and purpose in music, seeing it as a powerful tool for storytelling and emotional expression. As an active member of his school’s Music Club, he continues to grow his skills while gaining valuable exposure to diverse musical experiences and collaborative performances. David will be speaking on empathy, exploring the importance of understanding others, connecting beyond differences, and using both voice and music as tools to foster compassion in today’s world.
