“The principal’s daughter...” Those three words carried expectations, pressure, and the fear of making mistakes. In this powerful TEDx talk, Toluwanimi reflects on identity, teenage struggles, parental influence, and the importance of choosing authenticity over approval. Toluwanimi Fakoya, a Year 11 student, is a keen observer of the unseen forces that influence human behavior. Her curiosity extends to social dynamics, technology, and interpersonal influence. An active member of the Drama Club, Toluwanimi is also passionate about music, culture, and the often-untold narratives of young people. She is currently focused on cultivating a voice characterized by honesty, empathy, and clarity, aiming to not only reflect her own experiences but also encourage deeper self-reflection in her audience.
