What if scaling your idea too fast is the fastest way to lose it? As a young designer building my own studio, I was told that growth means expansion. More services, more revenue, more visibility. Scale quickly or become irrelevant. But the pressure to grow nearly pulled me away from the very values that made the work meaningful. Choosing not to scale transformed how I define success. This talk challenges the assumption that bigger is better and explores why intentional, ethical restraint can be more transformative than rapid growth. Sometimes staying small is not fear. It is clarity. Apratim is a designer and the founder of DotFig, working at the intersection of tabletop game design, prototyping, and creative manufacturing. His practice focuses on building tangible, hands-on experiences that bring ideas to life. Driven by curiosity, he enjoys working across disciplines and exploring how concepts evolve into meaningful, real-world products. This talk was given at a TEDx event u
