The U.S. military said Monday that it carried out “self-defense” strikes in southern Iran, even as President Donald Trump said that negotiations were “proceeding nicely.” There was no official response from Tehran regarding the strikes. Further details were not immediately available. Israel's military says its air force struck sites belonging to Hezbollah in Lebanon. The strikes on Monday night came as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to intensify attacks on the militant group. U.S. officials say Hezbollah has ignored requests to stop firing into Israel. And a hazardous chemical tank at an aerospace plant in Southern California that was at risk of a catastrophic explosion appears to now be under control. Roughly 50,000 people were evacuated from their homes over Memorial Day Weekend. The tank overheated last week and began releasing hazardous vapors.
