Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton defeated four-term Sen. John Cornyn to secure the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. His victory in Tuesday’s runoff makes Cornyn the first Republican senator from Texas to lose the party’s nomination for reelection. Paxton was endorsed by President Donald Trump last week. Israel says it has killed the new leader of Hamas' military wing, Mohammed Odeh, less than two weeks after his predecessor was killed. Defense Minister Israel Katz called Odeh “one of the architects” of the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks. And five villagers trapped in a flooded cave in central Laos for over a week have been found alive. Rescuers said Wednesday that two others are still missing. The group entered the cave on May 19, but heavy rain caused flash flooding that blocked the exit.
