Depreciation is one of the most overlooked parts of property investing, and a lot of investors are leaving serious money on the table because they are not claiming it properly. Yes, brand new property has major depreciation benefits, and under the new rules it has become even more important. But plenty of investors with existing property are still missing deductions they may be entitled to because they have never had the right survey done or never claimed it correctly through their accountant. If you own investment property, this is not something to guess on. Make sure you have had it assessed properly and make sure you are claiming every tax benefit available to you.
