The number of young people in the UK not in employment, education or training - known as Neet - has increased to a post-pandemic high of 1.01 million, new figures show. For the first time since 2013, the figure has surpassed one million, ahead of a review which will warn of a "lost generation". The Milburn Review found that six in 10 young people had never had a job, with anxiety linked to social media also driving economic inactivity among the age group.
