Chris Yen, a 24-year-old Vietnamese filmmaker, is paving his path in Hollywood and putting his culture front and center. He’s pursuing a feature-length movie about a Vietnamese brother struggling to take care of his little sister but when a Hollywood studio offered him $1 million to fund it, he turned it down after he say the studio wanted to replace Vietnamese actors with Chinese actors and swap Vietnamese cultural elements for Chinese ones.
