Tensions on the Israel–Lebanon front escalated after fighters from Hezbollah ambushed Israel Defense Forces troops near Nabi Chit in eastern Lebanon. According to Hezbollah, Israeli soldiers were deployed from helicopters during an operation along the Lebanon–Syria border before coming under attack near the Nabi Chit cemetery.
