Former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell has been sentenced to five years and three months in prison, after he admitted to embezzling more than £400,000 from the party. Murrell - the estranged husband of Nicola Sturgeon - used the funds to make hundreds of extravagant purchases, including a £124,550 motorhome, cars, jewellery, luxury homewares and designer stationery. The 61-year-old also falsified accounting records and created fake invoices in a bid to cover up his wrongdoing. ----------------- • Subscribe to ITV News on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj • Get breaking news and more stories at http://www.itv.com/news Follow ITV News on TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@itvnews?lang=en Follow ITV News on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itvnews/ Follow ITV News on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/itvnews/ Follow ITV News on X: https://twitter.com/itvnews
