A total of 348 victims of demonstrations and public protests between 2013 and 2025 have been compensated by the government as part of a reparation process. The Panel of Experts on Compensation of Victims of Human Rights Violations says it has disbursed 448 million shillings in the first phase of the exercise, with victims receiving between 3 million shillings and 50,000 shillings. The compensation exercise is ongoing even as a number of victims complain of being left in the dark on whether or not they have been considered.
