Two young women were arrested on Thursday night in Mwea, Kirinyaga County, while lighting candles to commemorate victims of the 2024 and 2025 Gen Z protests. The two were later released the same night. Police officers interrupted what had been a peaceful commemoration, raising fresh concerns over the handling of peaceful gatherings in the country.
