For one precious hour, Sam Goddard breaks free from his internal prison and can talk again. It's a fleeting moment of joy for him, his family and fiancee. In 2011 Australian Stor filmed this incredible moment a drug helped Sam find his voice. Sam was in his early 20s and playing soccer when he suffered the first of several catastrophic strokes that upended his life. "The doctors continuously told us that he'd be brain damaged and said he'd never walk, he'd never breathe on his own, and I challenged it every step of the way," then-fiancee Sally told Australian Story. Sadly, Sam passed away in January 2018, aged just 31. 🎥We're sharing archive clips like this to mark 30 years of Australian Story. 📺 Watch the episode Love and Other Drugs: https://bit.ly/4vpIZSA #AustralianStory #SamGoddard #Stroke Subscribe: https://ab.co/3yqPOZ5 _____________________________________ About Australian Story: The power of the personal.
