An Indian Administrative Service officer (1972-1994), she held key positions in health administration, including at AIIMS, PGI, and joint sec in the Ministry of Health, Government of India. She later joined UNFPA, serving† as UNFPA rep in Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, and the Philippines, advancing maternal and adolescent health, gender equality, population issues, and HIV/AIDS programmes.
