Why has Pauline Hanson's popularity dropped in the polls?

Two polls conducted after Pauline Hanson's expansive speech at the National Press club have shown a drop in support for One Nation and its leader. Labor has reclaimed a narrow lead in both the Newspoll and RedBridge surveys, the first since Hanson's high-profile speech. The RedBridge poll had Labor on 30 per cent support, compared to One Nation on 29. The poll also showed a fall of 10 points for Hanson's net approval, down from zero. Shaun Ratcliff from Accent Research said that while voters weren't explicitly asked about why their views might have changed, one fifth of the voters surveyed said One Nation was the news story they heard the most about in the last week. "It stands to reason that that may have been an important part of what drove this shift," Ratcliff said.
