Venezuela earthquakes displace thousands as families shelter in Caracas parks

Twin earthquakes have displaced more than 12,000 people across Venezuela, with hundreds of families from Caracas and as far as La Guaira state now sleeping in parks and public spaces. A public park in the west of the capital has become an improvised displacement camp, offering medical assistance, basic supplies and child protection activities. Ongoing aftershocks have left many residents too frightened to return to their homes, even where structural damage has been assessed as superficial.
