Have you ever walked into a book shop and noticed that adult books have exactly the same dimensions - meaning if they were all the same colour, they would be indistinguishable? This is due to the standardisation books are subject to. In this process, author's original intentions are lost, and a substantial part of their work (communicating a certain message to readers) is lost among bringing books to market. I want to dually highlight the saddening element to this on the author's behalf, yet also its necessity from a selling point. Eleanor is a student at Francis Holland, Regent's Park. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
