Minions & Monsters movie review — the Minions are back, Hollywood has a monster problem, and I honestly think this might be the best one yet. In this review, I’m talking about Minions & Monsters, the new Illumination movie set in the Despicable Me/Minions universe. The film follows the Minions as they fall in love with making movies, try to create their own monster movie, accidentally summon real monsters, and then have to save the world from the chaos they unleashed. That is such a ridiculous premise — and it works. What makes Minions & Monsters stand out is that it gives the franchise a fresh identity while still delivering the kind of comedy people expect. The Minions are still chaotic, loud, silly, and completely unpredictable, but the monster-movie and Hollywood setting gives the film a new energy.
