New York City Council employee, Rafael Rubio Bohorquez, has been released after spending more than five months in ICE custody. Bohorquez, a data analyst for the NYC Council, was detained in January during a routine asylum interview in Long Island and ordered to be deported to Venezuela. His arrest sparked protests, a petition, and public debate among political leaders and immigration officials. City Council Speaker Julie Menin argued Bohorquez had Temporary Protected Status as a Venezuelan national, that was valid through October of this year, and a habeas petition was filed to keep him in New York. Mr. Bohorquez and Speaker Menin join Morning Joe to discuss his arrest, detention, and release, along with the issue of immigration enforcement in America.
