Spinster sisters Carrie and Anna Berniers (Page and Hiller) are living out the remainder of their lives in their rundown New Orleans homes. For years they have supported their ne'er-do-well brother Julian (Martin), financially and emotionally, through his many failed business ventures. But when Julian returns homes with a sudden fortune and a new, young bride (Mimieux), jealousy rears its ugly head in a smoldering tale of innocence, betrayal and hidden family secrets.
