Sir Keir Starmer promised that Britain will "build an army that is 10 times more lethal" as he launched the government's long-awaited defence investment plan (Dip) on Tuesday. During a speech, the prime minister announced that the Dip will provide an additional £15 billion, which is £1.5 billion more than was promised to former defence secretary John Healey. The plan was originally due last year, but had been held back amid a row within government over the amount of funding, which eventually led to Healey's resignation earlier this month. • Subscribe to ITV News on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj • Get breaking news and more stories at http://www.itv.com/news Follow ITV News on TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@itvnews?lang=en Follow ITV News on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itvnews/ Follow ITV News on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/itvnews/ Follow ITV News on X: https://twitter.com/itvnews
