Iran and US hold indirect Doha talks on implementing MoU

Iran and the US are holding indirect technical talks in Doha on the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed two weeks ago, with Qatar and Pakistan acting as mediators. Tehran says both the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's frozen assets are being discussed, though it has no plans to meet directly with the American delegation. Iran's chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, said the MoU must be fully implemented before talks on a final comprehensive agreement. He added: "We are engaged in dialogue. But if they refuse to implement what has been agreed, we are prepared for war." Under the agreement, technical obstacles in the Strait of Hormuz are to be addressed within 30 days, including navigational safety, mine clearance and restoring safe passage for shipping.
