Speaking during the launch of the Interministerial Steering Committee on Substandard and Falsified Medical Products in Nairobi, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale said the government has intensified efforts to combat counterfeit and substandard medicines. The CS announced a crackdown that includes a ban on the delivery of antibiotics by motorcycle riders, citing public safety concerns. Authorities said the illegal trade is fuelled by porous borders, smuggling, informal markets and organised criminal networks, and pledged tougher enforcement measures to safeguard public health.
