Aid agencies warn of health crisis after Venezuela earthquakes displace millions

A golf course in Venezuela's La Guaira state has been transformed into a military and humanitarian relief centre after the devastating earthquakes displaced millions of people. International NGOs, working with the government, are providing emergency shelter, food and medical assistance, while aid agencies warn that disrupted medicine supplies and damaged healthcare facilities are creating serious health risks. Humanitarian workers fear outbreaks of diarrhoea and other diseases because of overcrowding and poor sanitation, calling for portable toilets and better organisation of camps. Hospitals across the affected region are operating beyond capacity after sustaining earthquake damage.
