How much of the way we see ourselves is truly our own, and how much has been shaped by the world around us? Living in an industry where appearance is constantly scrutinised, actor Manjima Mohan reflects on the quiet relationship many of us have with our own reflection. Through personal experiences of public judgment, changing beauty standards, and self doubt, she explores how easily identity can become entangled with external validation. Rather than offering easy answers, Manjima invites us to examine the beliefs we carry about beauty, worth, and belonging. She challenges the labels we internalize, reminding us that our worth is not defined by appearance or by someone else’s standards of beauty. Ultimately, this talk reminds us that self worth cannot be built on other people’s opinions. It is an invitation to move beyond labels, question society’s expectations of beauty, and discover the confidence that comes from seeing ourselves differently. Manjima Mohan grew up in Thiruvananthap
