The International Commission of Jurists Kenya, the East Africa Law Society, the Pan African Lawyers Union, national bar associations, and other regional human rights organisations have demanded that the Uganda government immediately disclose the whereabouts and legal status of all detainees, restore affected media operations, guarantee access to legal counsel and family members for those in custody, and launch independent investigations into the alleged violations. Speaking during a press conference in Nairobi, the organisations condemned the reported disruption of operations at Nation Media Group Uganda, Spark TV, and Daily Monitor, saying there is no publicly disclosed legal directive authorising the actions. They added that interference with licensed media outlets undermines press freedom and the public's constitutional right to access information.
