Australian researchers have developed a breakthrough drug that could transform motor neuron disease from a fatal condition into a manageable chronic illness. The drug targets the brain's immune system to slow the inflammation process that causes rapid disease progression, potentially extending life expectancy beyond the current two to five years. The announcement coincides with Jai July, a fundraising initiative supporting NRL star Jai Arrow who was recently diagnosed with MND, and builds on research funded by the late Neale Daniher's Fight MND Foundation.
