Between 1940 and 1980, an estimated 250,000 women in England had their babies forcibly adopted because they were unmarried. Other infants died through poor care and neglect at homes for unmarried mothers. One of those mothers is former Labour MP Ann Keen whose baby boy was taken from her when he was just eight days old. She joins GMB with our Social Affairs Correspondent Sarah Corker to discuss her horrifying experience. After decades of waiting, Keen and other victims finally got a state apology. Speaking in the House of Commons on Thursday, Sir Keir Starmer said: "The shame was never yours. The shame is ours. And I say that on behalf of the whole country." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Broadcast on 03/07/2026 Stream Good Morning Britain live, every weekday from 6am on the ITVX 📲 http://daytimelink.itv.com/WatchGMBYT Subscribe now for more! http://bit.ly/1NbomQa Like, follow and subscribe to Good Morning Britain!
