The panel of experts overseeing compensation for victims of human rights violations says it has made significant progress, with more than half of the verified claimants now compensated. The panel, led by Makau Mutua, says it has received more than 400 new claims in the past two weeks following its appeal to people affected during demonstrations and public protests to come forward. The panel says 505 victims have so far received compensation totaling more than KSh674 million.
