Toyota Kirloskar Motor's Country Head & Executive Vice President (Corporate Affairs and Governance), Vikram Gulati, explains how E20 (20% ethanol-blended petrol) affects vehicles. Speaking in Delhi, Gulati said: Every vehicle sold in India after 2023 is E20-compliant. Most vehicles manufactured before 2023 can also run on E20. Mileage drops by around 4-5% because ethanol has lower energy content. However, vehicle performance, including acceleration and torque, improves due to ethanol's higher octane rating. He also pointed out that pure ethanol is used in Formula 1 racing to highlight its performance characteristics.
