The Head of Iran's Republican Guard has joined the crowds paying tribute to the country's late supreme leader, on the second day of his state funeral. Major General Ahmad Vahidi was surrounded by heavily armed security and, at the end of prayers, was whisked away in a scrum of cameras. As well as leading the military response, Vahidi has been key in formulating Iran’s stance in negotiating a possible permanent end to the war with the United States. Today’s appearance marks the first time he has been seen amongst the public since the start of February. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed at his home on the first day of the US and Israeli strikes towards Iran.
