Currently a Professor Emeritus at the Ateneo de Manila University, he is widely recognized for his pioneering research in natural products chemistry—particularly his significant work on the therapeutic applications of virgin coconut oil and the pharmacological development of lagundi—as well as his contributions to environmental chemistry and spectroscopy.
