A first-of-its-kind study of almost 2,000 Australians aged 16 to 18 has found one in 25 experienced, or had a friend who had experienced, AI-assisted online child sexual victimisation. The study found that boys are more likely than girls to experience online sexual abuse when AI is involved. The study also noted that AI has become both a tool for the abuse of young people, but also one of the main avenues to disclose or seek help afterwards.
