Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that Canada has selected Germany's ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) as the preferred supplier for up to 12 new submarines under the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project. The procurement, announced in Halifax, is the largest defence acquisition in Canada's history and is aimed at modernising the Royal Canadian Navy, strengthening Arctic security and enhancing NATO interoperability.
