A Victorian parliamentary inquiry into January's bushfires is under scrutiny after the CFA submitted a 33-page evidence report that was retracted and replaced with an 18-page version following government intervention. The original report revealed nearly 20 per cent of CFA career staff positions were vacant during the fires, over 50 per cent vacancies in worst-affected districts, and that the CFA requested $330 million in additional funding but received only $118 million.
