The State of Origin decider between Queensland and New South Wales is set to take place at a sold-out Suncorp Stadium, with tens of thousands of fans gathering at Caxton Street in support of the Maroons. A major Telstra network outage has disrupted services across Australia, affecting mobile phones, EFTPOS systems, rail networks in Victoria, New South Wales and the ACT, and causing more than 300 triple zero calls to fail. Telstra has identified a software defect in data centres in Sydney and Melbourne as the cause, with police conducting welfare checks on 79 people whose emergency calls didn't connect.
