Communications Minister Anika Wells has called One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce's suggestion that today's Telstra outage could be the result of foreign interference "irresponsible". "As a general principle, I think when it comes to matters of international security, you shouldn't make stuff up," she said. Earlier, Joyce told Sky News that he thought it was "very coincidental" that the outage occurred days after China launched an intercontinental ballistic missile carrying a dummy warhead as part of a weapons test in the Pacific. "I don't want to be paranoid or a conspiracy theorist, but we know there is the capacity for people to affect — for China to affect — that sort of software and that sort of network," Joyce said.
