Every child carries a future waiting to unfold. Yet for children in economically vulnerable communities, disasters can put that future on hold, leaving education as one of the last pieces of life to be restored. In his talk, Ayaan challenges us to see education not as an afterthought, but as an essential part of recovery, because every child deserves not only to survive a crisis, but to continue becoming who they have the potential to be. Ayaan Sood is a DP student at Oberoi International School and the founder of Project Disha, an initiative focused on long-term recovery in the aftermath of crises. His work centres on expanding access to education and opportunity for communities rebuilding beyond immediate relief. Through his experiences, he examines how moments of disruption can shape direction, and how purpose often emerges through action rather than intention. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn
