A year ago, Wang Jinfei was directing actors. Today, he directs AI-generated microdramas in China. AI has made these productions much cheaper to make. Jinfei still has work, but now earns almost 67% less than he used to. He's also juggling more projects, leaving him with less time to focus on the creative side of filmmaking. "There’s a saying: 'If you can’t beat it, join it.' I realised I couldn’t fight against AI, so I joined AI instead," says Jinfei.
